Happy New Year!
We hope you’ve all enjoyed a fantastic Festive Season and have had a great start to the New Year? We certainly have here at Bubbaloo, and we’ve lots to fill you in on, so let’s get started!
Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support, kind messages and prayers last month after Luella was rushed to hospital. Needless to say, it was an awful time for our family, and one we are very pleased to be putting behind us. We are delighted to report that Luella is now at home where she belongs and well on the road to full recovery. We really were overwhelmed by the amount of concern and support we received though, and we can never thank you enough.
Secondly, have you been hitting the January Sales yet? We certainly have! We’ve been jumping at the opportunity to search out some beautiful new props for your photoshoots and have had lots of fun hunting down gorgeous new hats, headbands and other fabulous pieces to make your photos extra special. Keep your eyes peeled for lots of new ideas to get your inspiration flowing!
Speaking of new, our pricing structure will be changing in February, and we’re also very excited to be introducing a new range of bespoke photo products – such as framing, photobooks and art canvasses – all perfect gift ideas, or just a great new way to showcase your family archive.
Ahead of that, we’re having a January Sale of our own, on our session fees – have a look at our prices page for full details and all the information you need on how to book. Remember – it’s never too early to book your first session with us, dates do tend to fill up quickly, so please do contact us sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment!
If you’re booked for a c-section or induction, we can schedule an exact date for your photos, if baby is in charge of their arrival day, we’ll simply note your due date and look forward to a call from you soon after.
We’re often asked ‘What’s the best time for a newborn shoot?’ and ideally, we’d say around 6 days old for the best results. By then, baby’s skin will be smooth and glowing and any post-delivery blotchiness or wrinkles will have passed. Older newborns also tend to sleep less and curl up less easily, plus baby acne and/or colic can flare up at around 10-15 days too, which can obviously affect your shoot and your photos.
As for the shoot itself, rest assured, we will make baby feel very welcome! Everything is done in a relaxed, no pressure environment. It’s not unusual for a newborn shoot at Bubbaloo to last three hours, allowing plently of time for comforting, nappy changes and feeds. We’re well aware that babies work to their own timetable and we’re more than happy to work with their’demands’!
Lastly, now that we’re all in good health, we’re looking forward to another year of taking and sharing our own monthly family portraits with you again – look out for the first one of the year on the blog soon. And in the meantime, feel free to check out the gorgeous photos from Sally’s Maternity shoot (Big sister-to-be Beatrix was so much fun to photograph with Mama’s bump!) or if you’re getting married this year (Congratulations!) have a look at happy couples Andy & Vic and Natalie & Jamie for inspiration – two very differnet weddings, but equally gorgeous and in love – we wish all four of them all the very best for the future.
And we wish all of YOU all the very best for 2013 too! Whether you’re expecting a new arrival or just looking forward to making new family memories, we look forward to seeing you in the studio soon.
As always, we love hearing from you, anything you need to know or want to ask, please do. And don’t forget to join us on facebook and twitter too 🙂
Happy New Year – hope it’s a magical one for you and your family,
Big smiles from everyone at Bubbaloo xx
